David Gurle spent 55 minutes on Silicon Carne . No slides, just the full Antimatter story on the record.
Carlos Diaz and Stephanie Hospital (CEO & Founder of OneRagtime) take him from Microsoft, where he built IP communications as Bill Gates' technical assistant and right-hand man, to Symphony, the messaging layer most global banks run on. Seven companies. A Légion d'honneur. Then what he is building now with Antimatter: Hivenet, Policloud and Data Factory.
Three threads run through the episode:
- Why Hivenet bet against the direction of the entire storage market and survived when the rest did not
- Why he believes the cloud as we know it is already finished
- What Europe should do with its stranded energy, and where the SoftBank billions will actually end up
He has been early twice before and this episode is his case for the third time.

As model capabilities converge, competitive advantage moves down the stack; we see this on a daily basis with inquiries coming to Antimatter…
In a new South China Morning Post SCMP interview, Antimatter Group CMO and Hivenet CEO, Queenie Chan discusses the opportunity Chinese open-weight models are creating for a new kind of AI infrastructure.
Nobody should swap one dependency for another. The value of open-weight models is simpler: they change the economics of inference and widen the choice of what to run.
Last week in Les Echos, Antimatter CEO & co-founder David Gurle argued that rejecting Chinese models without building an alternative only deepens dependence on American infrastructure.
Queenie’s interview shows the next step: build the layer that makes choice operational.
Who can secure the energy?
Who can bring compute online fastest? Who can run the right model for each workload without locking customers into one ecosystem?

"Depend on American platforms. Or distrust Chinese models".
Europe's AI debate has narrowed to these two options and nothing else. Our CEO and Co-founder David Gurle argues the choice itself is the mistake.
Rejecting Chinese models without building an alternative does not create sovereignty. It reinforces the American monopoly a little more. A monopoly backed by $725 billion of AI infrastructure spend this year alone, up 77% in one year.
Europe cannot outspend that race. However, it can build on different ground: infrastructure that runs on its own strengths, its own rules, its own economics.
In the latest op-ed for Les Echos, David sets out to explain why Europe should cease replaying another person's race and should instead define its own course.

Data Factory, Hivenet, Policloud. Three threads, one Antimatter.
Antimatter was officially announced on April 21st, 2026.
In just a few months, a lot has happened.
A landmark €580M deal between with CloudGrid Energy and Policloud. New enterprise customers joining Hivenet, with a lot of new products in the works (and yes, some exciting hardware is coming 👀). Data Factory continuing to establish itself as a key player in energy and operations management.
However, our growth isn't only measured by customers, partnerships, or product launches.
A few weeks ago, something equally important happened.
For the very first time, 77 people from across Europe, North America, Middle-East and Asia gathered in Lisbon for Antimatter's first company-wide offsite! It was our first opportunity to have everyone in the same room-to meet colleagues we'd only known through Slack or video calls, align on where we're going, and strengthen the culture we're building together.
Over four days, we looked back at what we've built, shared the roadmaps for every business, explored how our different products fit into one vision, ran AI workshops, tackled cross-functional challenges, organized fun hackathons and had candid conversations with leadership about the future of the company.
The biggest takeaway?
Antimatter isn't a collection of companies: it's becoming one team, united by a shared mission.
We're still at the very beginning of the journey, but if Lisbon proved one thing, it's that we're building something much bigger than technology.
Watch us.

Day one, we said open-weight would define the future of AI.
The numbers, and the discourse, now back it up. David Gurle, our co-founder and CEO, lays out what's changing and what it means.

Building an AI champion in Europe comes with a long list of challenges.
The stack is near the top - you can raise here and still run on someone else's compute.
That thread ran through both our sessions at OneRagtime's Founders Day in Paris.
Queenie Chan, group CMO of Antimatter and CEO of Hivenet, opened the day with Stephanie Hospital on what is actually happening in Asian markets, from the ground rather than the reports.
David Gurle, our co-founder and group CEO, closed it with Carlos Diaz (Silicon Carne) and Stephanie Hospital on what it takes to build across Europe, the US and Asia at once.
Thanks to the whole OneRagtime team for the invitation, the organization, and for backing us from day one.

We have said it often: the conversation around AI is often wrongly framed.
People talk about prompts, tokens, and models but often ignore the infrastructure and one of the biggest bottlenecks: energy.
David Gurle sat down with Margot Bletterie, and she beautifully put it, "this 50-minute conversation will change the way you think about AI".

Rosy LU from China Daily Hong Kong recently spent a day with our Antimatter Group CMO and Hivenet CEO, Queenie Chan
In this interview, Queenie shares her career journey, the challenges of being a woman in technology, and her experience helping scale fast-growing international companies Antimatter, Hivenet, Policloud and Data Factory.
The feature also offers a glimpse into how she balances leadership responsibilities with family life as a wife and mother of three.
A candid look at the realities of modern leadership, growth, and building for the future.

A busy couple of days for Antimatter and our CEO & co-founder David Gurle at VivaTech.
We met partners, clients, prospects, institutional leaders and press - and had the chance to take the conversation public with a fireside chat alongside EY and an interview with FRANCE 24 for La Semaine de l'Eco.
Same thesis, different stages: AI demand is growing faster than infrastructure can follow, energy is the constraint, and Europe needs a sovereign answer that doesn't repeat the hyperscaler playbook.
This is what we're building. And if you've been following us, you already know: it's working.

Our CEO & co-founder David Gurle had the chance to sit down with Laurence Bottero from La Tribune to chat about our mission at Antimatter.
From the early days of distributed computing to a €580M framework contract we announced recently, David walks through how we built a full-stack neocloud from the energy up, and why the timing matters now more than ever.
One quote that sums up our unique approach perfectly:
« Data Factory handles the energy layer, Policloud handles hardware, Hivenet handles software. There's almost zero redundancy - it's entirely complementary.»
